As a CEO, or other senior manager, you face challenges every single day—and so does your organization. Challenges require learning. Learning enables people to make good decisions today, confront future obstacles, and exploit future opportunities.

Unfortunately, if you’re CEO, you’re probably not doing everything you should to utilize learning as a force multiplier. Neither is your learning team. Nor are your managers!

With this book, noted work-learning consultant, Will Thalheimer, will help you reshape your learning efforts into a competitive advantage.

The author, Will Thalheimer, has worked in the work-learning field for over 30 years, the last 24 years as a consultant to organizations large and small, including the Navy Seals, Bloomberg, Novartis, Defense Intelligence Agency, Walgreens, Oxfam, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, MIT, National Park Service, World Bank, McKinsey.

Thalheimer has seen it all, and now he aims to tell all and share the secrets of organizational learning effectiveness!

Will has written the book and the book is now in the final editing phases. The book will be available in April or May 2024, depending on publication logistics.

The book will be published by Work-Learning Press, an imprimatur of Work-Learning Research LLC, owned fully by the author.

Will’s ownership enables him the freedom to publish ideas and concepts that challenge conventional wisdom, criticize current practices, and promote research-inspired approaches.

Of course, such ownership involves costs, and that’s where over 200 people already helped by supporting Will’s Kickstarter campaign for the book!

Why This Book? Why Now?

Dedication and Deliverance

The work-learning field is filled with dedicated professionals who are passionate about (1) helping people learn and (2) facilitating organizational improvement. Unfortunately, for decades there has been a massive communication gap between organization leaders and learning professionals.

At the root of this problem is a belief from senior management that learning is easy. It is not easy. Human learning is extremely complex—so much so that current training designs and management practices do not take full advantage of the science of learning.

When organizational managers misunderstand learning, they tend to defang the learning team, rendering it ineffectual and enfeebled. Compounding these problems, the learning profession relies on meaningless metrics—and thus ends up miscommunicating with its organizational sponsors.

This book will help bridge the communication gap by enabling senior managers and learning professionals to get on the same page. There is bitter medicine in this book for everyone, but through clear practical guidelines for action, The CEO’s Guide to Training, eLearning & Work will help organizations empower learning for a competitive advantage.
